New Jersey Giants Burress' accidental shooting self-inflicted, according to reports

New Jersey Giants receiver Plaxico Burress suffered an accidental gunshot wound Friday night in a club, according to multiple sources.

Fox Sports.com and the New York Daily News reported that Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg and spent the night in the hospital.

Burress suffered the gunshot wound while at The Latin Quarter, a nightclub in Manhattan, ESPN's Jeremy Schaap reported.

According to police sources, a report on the incident has not been filed. Detectives have been sent to the hospital and the club to investigate, Schaap reported.

Additional details of the incident weren't immediately available, but according to a source the wound was not considered life-threatening.

Burress, who was not expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday because of a hamstring injury, was not at team meetings and did not attend the team's Saturday walkthrough.

The Giants organization was not commenting on the story.

"I don't have anything for you at this stage," Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon told The Associated Press from Giants Stadium.

Phones calls to Burress' home and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, were not immediately returned, the AP reported.

"We are gathering information, just like everyone else," NFL spokesman Joe Browne said.

In September, Burress was suspended for a game and fined $117,500 for a violation of team rules, reportedly failing to appear at a team meeting and failing to notify the team of his absence. At the time, Rosenhaus said that Burress was tending to urgent family matters.

He also was fined $45,000 by the NFL for his conduct during a game against 49ers in October when he abused an official and tossed a ball into the stands.

Burress signed a five-year, $35 million contract this fall after helping the Giants to a Super Bowl championship last season.

A preview of the Week 13 matchup between the Giants and the Redskins.
The signing came after an unsettling offseason during which Burress was fined $25,000 for refusing to practice during a mandatory minicamp in June. He also missed most of training camp at the University at Albany with a sprained ankle. He insisted the injury -- not his contract -- kept him off the field.

Despite his lack of practice, Burress started in the opener against Washington and caught 10 passes for 133 yards. The following week, he had five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in a win over St. Louis.

The rest of the season has not been as productive. The most passes he has caught in any game since is four in a loss to Cleveland on Oct. 13, the game which followed his suspension.

Burress has 35 catches for 454 yards and four touchdowns in a season in which he has constantly drawn double coverage. His streak of receptions in 115 consecutive games ended last week in Arizona. He aggravated his hamstring injury during the first series and did not return.

It was the sixth-longest active streak in the league, dating to Nov. 26, 2000 against Cincinnati, Burress' rookie season in Pittsburgh.

Signed as a free agent in 2005, Burress had caught a pass in all 56 previous games in which he had played for the Giants.

Nigga shit

A brawl involving more than 100 people broke out during a funeral for a one-year-old baby boy in Wisconsin.

An argument between the family members and mourners of Christopher Thomas Jr. over who was responsible for the child’s death, escalated into a wild melee on Wednesday with mourners throwing chairs and knocking over flower arrangements.

Several people grabbed hold of the casket to keep it from being turned over.

Christopher was beaten to death while in foster care. His foster mother, Crystal P. Keith, is charged with his death. Keith is also charged with torturing Christopher’s 2-year-old sister who remains hospitalized.

Keith is married to the brother of the baby’s father.

Christopher was taken from his biological mother by child protective services and placed in foster care back in March.

During the emotional service, mourners set upon the child’s biological father, Christopher Thomas, 22, who suffered a gash to his face during the fight and was taken away by ambulance.

The boy and his 2-year-old sister had been in several foster homes since they were taken from their mother, Candace Glover, 23, who also attended the funeral

R.I.P. MC Breed

According to Livesteez, the Michigan pioneer MC Breed passed away due to Kidney failure yesterday. He had been fighting it since September:

Midwest rapper MC Breed, born Eric Breed, was found dead today (Nov. 22) after suffering kidney failure. He was 36. Breed’s manager Darryl Morris confirmed that the rapper was found dead at a friend’s home in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the Detroit News is reporting. In September, Breed collapsed on a basketball court. He was taken to the hospital and put on life support due to kidney failure. He was taken off life support days later, according to SOHH.com. Helping the Mid-West rise to popularity within hip-hop, the Michigan-bred emcee is known for gaining notice as an independent artist with a number of early 1990’s albums, including MC Breed & DFC, 20 Below, The New Breed and Funkafied. Breed’s career spans 20-years and 13 albums. Breed also famously collaborated with various West Coast rap stars including Too Short, Warren G and the late Tupac Shakur.

Palm axes an undisclosed amount of employees, sort of blames itself
My, my -- how's this for truth in advertising? Palm InfoCenter has confirmed with a Palm spokesperson that the flagging outfit will be laying off an undisclosed amount of employees as the economy worsens and the firm attempts to keep that final nail from being slammed down on its coffin. According to the spokesperson, the company will undergo a certain amount of restructuring (sound familiar?) that will "result in company reductions in the US and internationally." Incredulously, the statement also included this gem: "The global economic downturn continues to dampen demand for consumer goods around the world, and the impact on the economic environment is worsened by our maturing Centro line and the length of time it is taking to ramp our new Windows Mobile products." We won't say for sure that it's actually taking some of the blame here, but it sure sounds like it. Now, if only it would take charge of its future...

360 netflix HD streaming verdict

Back again talking about the new 360 experience and the best new feature the Netflix streaming, the HD streaming. I got a chance to check out the HD streaming this morning and its not Blu-Ray quality but its pretty damn good quality better than DVD quality. Now Netflix just need to add some more HD movies to watch it now. How does it compare to PS3 HD downloads I don't know. I am not with the whole HD downloads because I am HD snob and if its not the same as Blu Ray am not going to buy HD downloads, I will just wait and get the Blu-Ray. Netflix is cool because its free if you have a Netflix account and to stream to your TV you need to 360 with Gold 360 membership. There are other devices that could stream Netflix watch it now but only the 360 has HD streaming now. This feature is coming soon to other devices by the end of the year.

Rapper Remy Ma Appeals Sentence; Claims Judge Made Errors

By Tai Saint Louis
Attorneys for Remy Ma filed a motion in a Manhattan Court Room this week appealing the verdict handed down against the rapper in March of this year.

In court documents, the lawyers argue that errors committed by the judge presiding over the 15 day trial may have lead to an inaccurate verdict.

At issue specifically, were the judge’s instructions regarding the testimony of Remy’s victim, Makeda Smith-Barnes, who was shot by the rapper outside a New York City nightclub during an argument over $3000.

In closing arguments on March 24, Remy’s attorney Ivan Fisher argued that Smith-Barnes’ testimony actually supported his client’s explanation of the shooting as an accident.

However, the jury was instructed that if they believed the victim to be “truthful and accurate,” under the law, her words were enough to establish reasonable doubt.

Additionally, Fisher was barred by the court from arguing that the shooting in fact occurred during a struggle for the .45 caliber automatic handgun which, allegedly resulted in Smith-Barnes being shot in the abdomen at close range.

These two instructions, the appeal states, amounted to a “directed verdict,” which they say should be examined as more than just accidental error.

In addition, Remy’s lawyers argue that by including a previous unrelated violent incident at the Player’s Club in the indictment of Remy Ma, Assistant District Attorney Michael McIntosh effectively managed to taint the jury, predisposing them to issue a guilty verdict.

Remy, born Remy Smith, is currently serving an eight year prison term at the Bedford Hills Correctional facility, a maximum security prison just north of New York City.

The rapper was convicted of first degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and attempted coercion.

She will be eligible for parole in September 2014.

PS3 as low as $200

So the UK may be getting a pretty sweet deal with an 80GB "Blu-ray entertainment" PS3 pack for 300 quid, but for us Americans, we've got something even sweeter ... potentially! Why potentially? Because some of you out there will get the deal, while others will not. This is how it works: Amazon is offering three different discounted packages to its members; however, they will have to vote for only one of these as the one they want.

Casting a vote enters you in a chance to buy the items at the discounted price, BUT only if the majority votes in favor of your bundled set. If your choice wins, then you have a chance to be one of the lucky 500 who can snag a PS3 at that amazingly low price. Seriously, a full functioning PS3 with built-in Wi-Fi and an HDD (plus extras) for the price of the stripped down Xbox 360 Arcade? It's a good value and worth trying if you don't already have a PS3. The voter's bundle winner will go on sale by Friday, Nov. 28. So, just what are the choices? The image above shows it all.

The New Xbox Experience

Well its here I download it this morning and played around with it this afternoon. I like it. It looks good they basically copied PS3's XMB after dissing it and they copied the Wii's Avatars. I don't care for the avatars and most gamers on the 360 are not causal gamers and they wont like them either. I don't know what Microsoft is doing, instead of stealing from Nintendo and trying get casual gamers they should try coming up with something for their your core gamers which is like 98% hard core gamers. The Netflix streaming works great and the best new feature video quality is what I expected not great but not bad its OK. you need Xbox Live Gold membership 3 months $19.99 and 12 MONTHS $49.99 which sucks, hopefully Netflix will make over to the PS3 where its free.

Its official

I have switched camps I am a happy and proud owner of The

I like how it looks its not sexy like the I-Phone but I like it. It looks like your typical HTC phone. The iphone and the G1 interface makes palm and windows look like something from the 70s. Blackberry is trying to keep up with the Storm and Bold coming out soon. Palm is dead and Windows is going to have scrap that Windows Mobile and come up with something new. The G1 I love it but if you need to get your work email on your phone it does not support Microsoft Direct Push the one thing that a Windows mobile phone does great along with Blackberry that has their own system, and Google won't support it. But someone most likely will make an App to do so. And Orb does not work, but the makers of Orb have said that "they are working on an App that will be out real soon". Sprint's EVDO is a little faster than t-moible's 3g. I give the G1 the mOe's stamp of approval.

The Nuggets and Pistons have agreed in principle on a trade that would send Allen Iverson to Detroit and Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to Denver, sources have told ESPN.

The deal has not been finalized.
